Yesterday we completed our “Take Action” project with Girl Scout Troop 10577 from Candler park. The girls are growing food for the hungry on 6 “plots” we created for them on the farm. Our project started over 2 months ago.
The girls germinated all of their own seeds, watered them each week and help prepare the beds for planting.
They are growing tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, melons, corn, beans and squash. Food from the plots will go to the Children’s home in Decatur and the Atlanta Food bank. The girls will harvest the food and enjoy the fruits of their labor with both of these organizations.
